Carlson Coaches at World Junior Camp in Lake Placid

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-  Head Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson served as a camp coach at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation in Lake Placid, NY for the second consecutive year.

The 2009 U.S. Olympic Committee Development Coach of the Year served as head coach of the gold medal-winning U.S. Junior Select Team at the 2008 World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta and, last fall, repeated the feat at the 2009 World Junior A Challenge in Summerside, PEI.

The evaluation camp wrapped up on August 7th.

Carlson has served as Head Coach and General Manager of the RoughRiders since the team's arrival in Cedar Rapids in 1999.  He was named 2004-2005 USHL Coach of the Year after leading the RoughRiders to a 42-13-5 regular season record.  The RoughRiders won the Clark Cup in the same season.

Carlson will return to the Cedar Rapids RoughRider bench again this fall.  The RoughRiders will play USHL newcomer, the Dubuque Fighting Saints in a pre-season game on September 16th.  Opening night at The Stable will be October 9th when the RoughRiders face off against Fargo.
