EHL - Wilkinson Named Rookie of the Month

Norwalk, CT– 3/2/17


Former Connecticut Oilers Eastern Hockey League Premier Captain Alex Wilkinson, a defenseman from Raleigh, NC and currently a Freshman of the Army West Point hockey team has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association's Rookie of the Month.


Wilkinson stood out throughout the month of February as he led the freshmen class with two goals and two assists as a defender. The Raleigh, N.C., native netted goals in Army's, 2-2, tie with Canisius and the team's, 4-2, win over Holy Cross.


Wilkinson also recorded an assist against the Crusaders to mark his fourth multi-point game this season. He added his final point of the month against AIC on the road. The rookie blueliner also tallied nine blocks throughout February and was +2 on the ice.


Army is off this weekend due to its first round bye in the AHA Tournament. The Black Knights return to Tate Rink March 10-12 for the second round against an opponent that will be announced next week.


Wilkinson had been with the CT Oilers for three seasons, beginning in 2013, coming from the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes 18U.
