USA Hockey - U17 Five Nations Tournament

 

Cedar Rapids, IA - July 13, 2017

Twenty players who participated at the USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp have been chosen for the 2017 United States Under-17 Select Team that will compete Aug. 23-27 at the Five Nations Tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The week-long Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp concluded today at the Northtown Center in Amherst, New York, with its annual all-star game and Five Nations Tournament roster selection.

The 2017 U.S. Under-17 Select Team will have 20 players, which includes three Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.  Defenseman Mitch Miller (Sylvania, OH), Forward Grant Silianoff (Edina, MN) and Goaltender Ethan Haider (Maple Grove, MN) will all represent their country.

Shane Connelly, who previously was an assistant coach for the RoughRiders, will be an assistant coach on the team as well.

"Congratulations to Mitch, Grant and Ethan.  We are thrilled that three RoughRiders will have the chance to represent our country in the 5 Nations Tournament," said RoughRiders Head Coach Mark Carlson.  "Congratulations to Coach Connelly as well, he will be a valuable member of the coaching staff." Team USA won the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament last year in Frisco, Texas, posting a perfect 4-0 record. It marked the seventh championship in nine tries for the U.S., which also claimed top honors in 2015, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2008.
