USHL - Riders top Madison

 

Middleton, WI - October 7, 2017

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the Madison Capitols 4-3 Saturday night at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin, the RoughRiders first win of the season.  

Jordan Timmons scored on the Power Play at the 8:26 mark of the 1st period to give the RoughRiders an early 1-0 lead.  Nathan Smith scored with 6:51 left in the period to give the Riders a 2-0 edge heading into the 2nd period. 

Marek Valach scored twice in the 2nd period, once on the Power Play to give the Riders a 4-0 lead heading into the 3rd period.  

The Capitols seized control much of the final period, scoring three times but the RoughRiders and goaltender Jiri Patera were able to hang on for the teams 1st win of the regular season.
