USHL RoughRiders take (5) points on the road
Cedar Rapids, IA
At 8:00 am, Wednesday morning the RoughRiders took to the road for a four day, 1,541 mile, 26.5 hour bus ride through the midwest with stops in Youngstown, Chicago and Green Bay for three games in three nights.
With a stop in Chicago for a late morning skate it was back on the bus for a midnight arrival in Youngstown and lights out. Day One complete.
Day two begins with a morning skate followed by a ritual afternoon nap and then 60 plus minutes of hockey resulting in a 5-4 OT game and one point for the RoughRiders. Then twenty hours later the team was back on the bus for 4 hours and a well deserved hotel room sleep. Day two complete.
Friday morning comes early, a little homework and it's back on the bus to arrive for game two in Chicago. Ten hours later with two points after a 4-2 win over Chicago it's back on the road for a couple of hours before another well derserved hotel room stay. Day three complete.
Saturday morning greets the RoughRider roadies with meetings, some free time and you guessed it, back on the bus to Green Bay. Ten hours later with 2 points earned with a 5-2 win over Green Bay it's back on the bus pointed to Cedar Rapids.
Finally, arriving at 4:00am Sunday morning at The Stable to unload the bus with (5) points and 1,541 miles of team bonding it's off to the player's host homes to end the teams first road trip of the season.
The RoughRiders are currently tied with Indiana, Green Bay and Dubuque for first place in the Eastern Conference of the USHL.
Next game is Friday at The Stable versus Lincoln.
